Great Plains Saxophone Intensive

The 2019 Great Plains Saxophone Workshop is offering and intensive and immersive three day camp preceding the 2019 GPSW from June 22-24, 2019. During the GPSI students will receive group lessons, masterclasses, technique classes, and performance opportunities.

  • Space is limited to 40 saxophonists
  • An audition recording is required
    • Prepare a 5 minute MP3 recording. This can be anything that best represents your playing. It does not need to be with piano. This file will be uploaded to the registration form.
    • You will be notified via email about your acceptance to GPSI.
  • Intensive participants are required to attend the full GPSW (June 25-29, 2019)
  • The registration cost includes participation in both GPSI and the full GPSW
  • Faculty for GPSI will be h2 quartet and guest teachers from the GPSW


Registration has closed for both GPSI and GPSW 2019. Payments are fully refundable through June 1. A $50.00 cancellation fee will apply to refunds June 2 - June 10. After June 10, no refunds will be given for cancellation.

Resident - $750 ($100 discount on GPSW)

This fee includes overnight accommodations for 7 nights in a double-occupancy university housing room, full participation in GPSI and GPSW events and student recitals, and three meals/day at the student dining hall on campus, Couch Restaurant (2 meals on the last day). NOTE: University housing will not provide towels, so you will need to bring your own!

Commuter - $440 ($100 discount on GPSW)

This fee includes full participation in GPSI and GPSW events and student concerts.

Dinner is provided for everyone on the first night of GPSW, and lunch is provided on the last day of GPSW. Commuters also have the option of purchasing 6 additional dinner meals for $60 ($10 per meal).

The Great Plains Saxophone Workshop will offer a limited number of partial tuition scholarships for the 2019 event.

To apply:

  • Register for the workshop
  • Submit a scholarship application using the form linked below.
  • Scholarship applications are due by 5pm (CST) on May 1, 2019.
  • Decisions will be announced by May 15, 2019.
  • Write a 1 page essay that includes information about your background, your music career goals, and what you would like to achieve at the workshop.
  • Create a 5 minute mp3 recording
    • This can be anything that best represents your playing (solo, all-state etude, or quartet part). It does not need to be with piano.
  • Your essay and recording will be uploaded to the scholarship application form linked below.
